Spend an amazing family holiday in the Netherlands on a farm with Feather Down. Here, you can enjoy your stay in a fully equipped tent with all the modern comforts, while maintaining the warm atmosphere of the campsite. Fashionable camping, which is gaining popularity, is known as glamping!
Enjoy the oasis of peace, space, and nature in the De Deelen. This region is located in the northwest of the province of Friesland. Nowhere in Friesland are the paints so clearly visible in the landscape as in the area between Heerenveen and Akkrum. Here, in the so-called Lage Midden of the province, lies the nature reserve De Deelen. Staatsbosbeheer has set two hiking trails of 1.5 and 3.5 km through the 500-hectare nature reserve. This is a real mecca for birdwatchers, as it is part of the Natura 2000 nature protection network protected by Europe. The mustache, reed singer, and black tern also breed in the reeds. In addition, this area is also suitable for some of the many species of duck birds such as the nun, the wigeon and the shoveler. And in the winter many geese come to visit such as the greylag goose, hummingbird goose, and barnacle goose. Of the birds of prey, brown harrier is the most striking. So what are you waiting for? Go explore and spot them all!
In Friesland, you will find the 240-year-old Hoeve Meskenwier farm. Surrounded by the small river Boarn, this is the ideal starting point to discover Friesland from the water. From the lodges, you can look out over the meadows for 2 kilometers and you can walk straight to the river where you have direct access to the Frisian Lakes. The farm is close to De Alde Faenen National Park and the De Deelen nature reserve. The youngest calves traditionally stand on a pen in the grass around the farm in the summer. Naturally, the Feather Down guests can lend a hand! Due to the favorable location with access to the Frisian lakes, it is possible to swim in addition to a (sailing) boat trip, to cast out a fishing rod or to take a canoe trip. The Wadden Islands can also be easily reached from Hoeve Meskenwier. How about a day trip to Ameland?
