Balnab Whithorn Farm is located on the Southern tip of the Machars peninsula, boasting green fields and panoramic coastal views. Balnab Whithorn Farm is the ideal location for a family glamping holiday in Dumfries and Galloway. What’s more, the farm is 10 minutes away from the coastal village of Isle of Whithorn and 12 miles from the country’s national book town and biggest annual book festival in Wigtown! The farm is surrounded by many more activities and attractions to offer for young and old visitors!

Activities on the farm:

Balnab Whithorn Farm is a third-generation and family-run working dairy farm that has 120 dairy cattle. With its rolling hills and coastal views, it is the perfect destination for a family that loves a good outdoor adventure. Explore the area by bike or if you prefer to take in the sights on foot, there are plenty of walking routes. There are cows,  sheep, goats, ponies, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs to meet – guests can feed the animal and help groom/walk the ponies! Guests can feed the animals, and help groom the ponies, and even walk the ponies and the Pygmy goats! There will be an arranged farmers’ football match for everyone to join in and tractor rides may also be possible if arranged in advance!

All of our standard plus tents offer panoramic views of the countryside and you can be sure of a comfortable stay at Balnab Whithorn Farm. The farm’s honesty shop will have a raw milk dispenser for guests to enjoy! An open grassland creates a safe and natural backdrop that will provide your children with hours of entertainment letting their imaginations run wild in the glorious fresh air. In the evening what could be better than sitting out, toasting marshmallows on your campfire looking at the night sky.

Explore the area:

Beyond the farm, there are plenty of things to do around this area. Head over to the local cafe at Whithorn and satisfy your taste buds with a plate of fish and chips or visit the local the seaside town of Isle of Whithorn. If you have a sweet tooth, head over to the St Ninians tea room for delicious cakes and tea. Why not spend your day at the seaside town of Garlieston or the fishing village of Port William. You can take a seaside walk adventure down the Rigg Bay to Cruggleton Castle – approximately a two-hour walk!
