The highest part of the Ardennes is grouped around the ‘Signal of Botrange’, a 694 metres high hill just north of the river Ourthe and surrounded by several others hills of over 500 metres in height that offer excellent mountain bike and horse riding trails as well as a very diverse habitat for rare animals like beavers that live in the many small streams and rivers that meander through the valleys.

A mountain bike mecca amongst lovely towns

In the central part of the Ardennes you’ll find several characteristic and charming little towns like Bastogne, Durbuy, La Roche en Ardennes and Houffalize which boast a nice selection of cosy bars and restaurants. Houffalize is the mecca for mountain bike enthusiast with its world championships trail whilst Bastogne is renowned as the linchpin in the Second World War battle of the Bulges.

Other major attractions in the region, besides walking and biking, are the famous caves in Han , Hotton, Remouchamps and Goyet that have been a touristic attraction for over 250 years and offer a magnificient insight in the underground world or the picturesque rivers and streams that offer fly fishing, rafting and canoeing like the Aisne, Ourthe and Amblève.
